FSSM History

The Care Home Without Walls (FSSM) program was designed by Suzanne Dupuis-Blanchard, a researcher at the University of Moncton. Its main goal is to promote healthy aging at home by ensuring that seniors—and their caregivers—have appropriate access to the information, support, and services they need to age safely and with dignity in their own homes.

Launched in 2019 in four rural communities, the FSSM model has been adapted to local circumstances while retaining a common goal: to support aging in place within communities.

The Foyer Saint-Antoine launched its Care Home Without Walls program in 2023.

In 2025, the program now has nearly 30 active sites in New Brunswick.
